We are so pleased to announce that Carmen will be doing the evening keynote on Friday, February 16 at 7 p.m. at the Write to Learn Conference.
The Write to Learn Conference is an amazing annual professional development opportunity for Language Arts teachers from Kindergarten all the way through college level. From incredible keynotes, to full-day workshops, this conference has a lot to offer. The theme this year is “E3: Engagement, Empathy, Empowerment.” We can’t wait to see everyone there!
We are excited to announce that The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet! is a Golden Kite Honor Book for Picture Book Text.
“Instituted in 1973, the Golden Kite Awards are the only children’s literary award judged by a jury of peers. More than 1,000 books are entered each year. The Golden Kite Awards recognize excellence in children’s literature in five categories: Young Reader and Middle Grade Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, Nonfiction, Picture Book Text, and Picture Book Illustration.” -SCBWI
Thank you for everyone who voted for us. We are honored to be in such great company.
“In a new twist on the traditional book club, Little Free Library’s Action Book Club™ invites participants to read books on timely topics, engage in lively discussions, and take part in meaningful—and fun—group service projects to benefit their communities. This is reading and social engagement at its best.”
We are excited to be on the Little Free Library’s Action Book Club™ recommended reading list for their current topic: Everyday Heroes. Children and adults alike are encouraged to read and discuss books together, but also to reach out into their communities to make a difference.
More than 500 groups, and thousands of people are already participating all over the world. Sign up before February 5 to be entered to win a special book package that include Carmen’s book, The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to see Carmen and John perform and support our local libraries. It is really special to be able to do something we love for a cause that means the world to us. 2017 was a pretty wonderful year, with the release of The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet! There is nothing quite as wonderful as working on a book and then being able to send it out into the world.
Carmen is working on several new projects that we will tell you about throughout the year, as we are able. In the meantime, let us know what books you are excited about in 2018!
